Grandpa Buzz

I am sorry to have so many sad blog posts, but it has been a real time of transition and loss in the Babbitt/Whitfield family lately. My Grandfather, Frank "Buzz" Vallella, my mother's father, passed away recently and I have been so sad to lose both my grandparents within one month.

The last time we got to see Grandpa Buzz was at Thanksgiving, when he was in the hospital with pneumonia. He let Nora climb all over his hospital bed and shared all his apples from his dinner with her. You can see her in the picture below sidling up to the table to get another. "Can I please have one more?" It was very sweet.

He will be very missed. Every time I make a deli meat sandwich, I think about how he liked the very thinly shaved deli meat, and loved to have a plate with a sandwich, a pickle, pretzels, and a glass of coke and ice.
